Mireyra + Carlos

My dad and step mom are the cutest couple ever. I love getting to take picture of couples that can laugh with each other and at each other. These two really bring out the best in each other and you can feel their love just by being around them.

Leslie + Josh

What a great way to start off the new year. I had the amazing opportunity to capture some beautiful pictures of this lovely couple on their engagement day (1/1/19). These picture were taken in Laguna Beach, California. No lighting equipment was use, this was all natural lighting, and some light editing in photoshop. Thank you Leslie and Josh, I hope you have a lovely wedding and live happily ever after!

Color Powder

Out of all the props and mediums I have ever used in photography, color powder has been my favorite by far. Color powder allowed me to use my models as a canvas. When adding the color to my models I tried to think of what colors would compliment their skin toned nicely, and I also tried to drag the color to make dramatic lines around the face and color bone area to emphasize certain facial and body features. For my white background I went the DIY route and used a white poster board, who said photography had to be expensive?

Frozen Water

Would you believe me if I told you I took these pictures in my room with a brownie pan filled with water? Well you better believe it, because that’s exactly what I did. This was my first time ever trying water drop photography, and I loved it. However, it takes extreme patience and precision. It probably took me about 50 shots to get these 3 pictures. Water drop photography is all about timing. The awesome thing about water is it’s reflective. I was able to get these cool pink and yellow colors by putting and old watercolor painting of mine behind it while I took the picture, and I used a blue folder for the third picture. I can’t wait to try this again and play with different colors, so stay tuned for more.

Photobook COMM 300

I am proud to present to you all my first ever photobook. This photobook is representation of the countless hours I dedicated to photography this semester. I have poured my heart and soul into this book and have created some of the best work I have ever done. I hope that as you look through this book you get a sense of who I am and my style of photography. I hope that this is just the first of many photobooks to come, so stick around because I am just getting started.

I designed this phonebook with Adobe InDesign. I used DIN Condensed, and Source Sans Pro font throughout the entire book. I took my file to Alpha Graphics, and printed it there.

For this project I was going to be given three words and I had to add two more. These five words were going to be the inspiration of a conceptual image that I had to create. The original three words were magnifying glass, defend, and foolhardy. Since the project was first introduced to our class I knew that I wanted my conceptual image to have something to do with Harry Potter, because I’m a huge fan. The two words I added were books, and magic; that’s how this idea was born.

With the help of my friend Nikki Elliot I was able to make my idea come to life. She not only was my model, but she also supplied me with all of the cool Harry Potter books, wand, etc. I love the colors of the books, and I knew I wanted it to be the main source of color in the picture, that is why I chose a plain white background. I didn’t want there to be anything that distracts the viewer from all of the details. I am extremely proud of what I came up with, and I hope you all like it!

Cultural Enlightenment

This is Toria, a Nike loving, Beats wearing runner. She’s had a love for running since she was in middle school. She participated in cross-country and track. She tries to participate in Duathlons every year. I wanted to photograph Toria, because I think she is a good example of someone who is always focused and disciplined. For this picture I used a kit lens and a speed light. The sun behind her was adding a really dark shadow to her face so I used the speed light to bring the light back to her face. LinnetteOrozcoToriaRun
